Services for People with Special Needs

Services to individuals with special needs will be provided free of charge. If participants have the ability to make a contribution to the program, it would be received with gratitude. However, inability to pay will not be a barrier to service.

1) Horsemanship and husbandry - This activity will utilize ground contact with horses in order to create relationships, build self-esteem, increase communication skills, and provide a soothing environment to release stress and anxiety. In this activity we will simply engage participants in petting, grooming, feeding and caring for the physical needs of horses.

Participants may be involved in private or group sessions.

2) Therapeutic driving - This activity will utilize a horse and carriage as a tool to build confidence, provide empowerment, provide physical exercise, and build problem solving abilities. In this activity we will engage participants in grooming and general care of the horse, and then incorporate lessons in carriage driving. Participants will learn to direct the horse through their hands and voice.

This may include private or group sessions.
